Credit Freeze & Unfreeze

A credit freeze, also known as a security freeze, is the best way to help prevent new accounts from being opened in your name. It’s absolutely free to freeze and unfreeze your credit, and it won’t affect your credit score.

      - TransUnion Credit Freeze Description

If you choose to freeze your credit, it is best to do so with all three credit bureaus. Please use the 'Click Here' buttons to access each credit bureau's website.

See the 'How To' below for more information on credit freeze and unfreeze.

How To Freeze and Unfreeze Your Credit

When you click the links above it will direct you to the Security Freeze section of each credit bureaus website. Then you will select the option to place a freeze, create a free account, or add/remove a freeze. Each site will direct you to enter personal information to create a free account.

Keep your User IDs and Passwords somewhere secure so that you can access again when needed

Once you have placed a freeze on your credit you have the option to temporarily or permanently remove the freeze at any time. To do this you will use the same links above and sign-in using the User ID and Password you already established. Once signed in, there will be an option to unfreeze permanently or temporarily. If you choose a temporary unfreeze you will enter the dates to unfreeze and your security freeze will be frozen again automatically after those dates. If you choose to permanently unfreeze or don't enter a date range then you will need to use the links above, to sign-in and place the freeze again when ready.

There is nothing to pay for, no credit card information required, & no credit check needed to place or manage a freeze. If you are being asked for credit card information you are not in the Security Freeze section of the website. Please exit out and begin again from the links on this page.
